Why boycott? Why let children go hungry?
We have the needy, and that is not billionaires. I know you agree, but Republicans do not agree. Democrats introduced many amendments to stop tax cuts:
• First, stop tax cuts for those making over $10 million a year—Republicans voted no.
• Second, they tried to set the cutoff at $100 million—Republicans still said no.
• Third, they tried to set the cutoff at $500 million—Republicans still said no.
• Fourth, they tried to set the cutoff at $1 billion— Republicans said they were for giving billionaires a tax break on the backs of the poor and the elderly.
1) Republicans, 217 of them in the House, won’t even block tax cuts for people making $1 billion in a single year.
2) Republicans, 217 of them in the House, are more than happy to slash funding for kids with disabilities and seniors in nursing homes to give billionaires a financial If you voted for one of these Republicans you are complicit in their actions. I wrote on this yesterday. https://bit.ly/4hUbbWU
I am participating and sharing. It’s my hope that from this point forward, individuals will think about who is benefitting when they make a purchase, and do the following: 1) (obviously) don’t buy products or services through the oligarchs that are in league with Trump. Some are obvious, like musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg. 2) defer on major purchases like homes, automobiles and appliances at least for the next couple of years. 3) Drop subscriptions to media and social media outlets that have bent a knee to the dictatorship. Save your money for absolute essentials. Either way, you’re gonna need it to get through these next 4 years.
I enjoyed my coffee this morning over the keyboard as I went down the inbox and found the comment or customer or barring that just the reply function (often resulting in a daemon response that the box is unattended but I tried) and told every vendor or company that tried to sell me on things today that clearly they weren't into saving democracy so they were unsubscribed. Result: Cleaner inbox at least since I basically buy very little very infrequently apparently compared to most folks - just not buying things one day isn't much of a lift for me.
