The time is now.
Period.
Carl Jung wrote eloquently on mass psychosis gripping a land, and how to recover from it collectively.
I don’t forget and I don’t let up. But sometimes, troopers, there comes a time when you’re driftin’. And I have drifted down. Eleven days and not an iota of a response from the DNC. Can you imagine? “Comes a time when you settle down. Comes a light, feelings liftin'” Down, and I am reaching out for your light to do the lifting that I need. The job at hand is worthy of good trouble, to quote the late John Lewis from Troy, AL.
What I am doing is exactly what Neil Young said to do in Comes A Time—when you get there. There are times when you alone cannot do it all. Then you need to invoke Plan B: Gather Resources and Delegate. Split up the pie. Spread the work. Offload some burden. Why? Because together, we can “Lift that baby right up off the ground“. And alone,…I’m driftin’.
You see, I have a battle-tested brainstorming process and people that lay tall trees down. Day in and day out. “It's a wonder, tall trees ain't layin' down.” Told we were coming, whole forests have literally picked up and moved to other states.
Sadly, I report that I just spoke in a DNC forest. No one heard me. Therefore, I have made not a sound. At least, that DNC forest, mired near the Potomac, did not move to some other platform on me. Lorissa heard me here on Substack. Lorissa Rinehart, that is, of The Female Body Politic. We were captured. Her promise yesterday has been on my mind and in my posts for the last week. Right now we need a sound platform and a solid leader. Lorissa was all over that in her Substack. That was a great effort. She was brave enough to take a shot at it, way braver than the DNC.
“You and I, we were captured
We took our souls and we flew away
We were right, we were giving
That's how we kept what we gave away”
So yesterday we flew away, I agreed with some of her promise, but not all; however, we gave away here on Substack what we thought—for nought. I see no way to harness DNC braincells to a common set of messages supporting a clear platform. How can this be? I see a better way to do this.
I am trying to gift the DNC,
A process that has oft carried me.
Far out of the norm,
Start of a platform.
My mind mapping process turned around Buzan’s process to focus on messaging. It harnessed and recorded all of the brain cells in my Kickoff Meeting rooms. We built our platforms (and their messages) with which to bid on large contracts.
I am about just the platform now. The platform must come first. I repeat the platform must come first. We have only a year to work out the platform. After that year, the primaries will ensue for a year to sort out and select our solid leader. We cannot impact that now. What we lay out is a 2-year schedule, and right now times a’wasting. Do not waste time now.
Build the platform right now. THE platform. Like universal healthcare and pharmacy, etc. It is time to shake things up and get on it.
We need a HARVEY WALLBANGER PLATFORM. We can do this. I don’t want any tired-ass BS. It is time for national healthcare. It is time for national childcare. It is time for living wages for all. It is time for attractive wages for teachers. It is time for free college. It is time for…what else? (I can’t remember them all.) Name it and it shall be yours. No more dodge ball. Do it. Put it on the list so darts can be thrown at it. It has to stand scrutiny. If it is not on the list, it cannot float to the top.
No one answers at the DNC. That is right. I called often. I did get the switchboard lady once. She sent me to the answering machine. No one answered, but I left messages. No one called back.
You see, there is no leader personality there. There’s not a leader personality at the DNC. No one is there. We need all our DNC leaders to be there to talk to people. Raised $ billions and no one can answer the phone. Proud of yourself? The DNC is a leadershipless Mecca mired on the Potomac. Just as a mass psychosis grips half the country, we are left rudderless. The way out requires a leader.
It is our DNC leader, if ever found, that will light the path to find our Redeemer, says Carl Jung. I am not talking about the recent election. I am talking about the person that actually leads. I am aiming the beacon’s light of hope for others at the moment. I have time because I will not join the mass psychosis gripping the right. Not saying Ken Martin cannot do it. I hope he can. I pray for that, but we must have a DNC leader, one who will find us a Redeemer.
Lorissa and I used scissors to emancipate ourselves from the grip, and we are trying to marshal the DNC’s support. We are not collaborating. We simply hear the same music.
What music? Comes A Time, Neil Young, 1978.
Neil Young’s words in Comes A Time (1978) are woven in this post, and are really good advice for the DNC’s contingency workaround planning.
Comes a time when you're driftin'
Comes a time when you settle down
Comes a light, feelings liftin'
Lift that baby right up off the ground
Oh, this old world keeps spinnin' 'round
It's a wonder, tall trees ain't layin' down
There comes a time
You and I, we were captured
We took our souls and we flew away
We were right, we were giving
That's how we kept what we gave away
Oh, this old world keeps spinnin' 'round
It's a wonder, tall trees ain't layin' down
There comes a time
Oh, this old world keeps spinnin' 'round
It's a wonder, tall trees ain't layin' down
There comes a time
There comes a time
Comes a time
Comes a time
Comes a time
Comes a time
Comes a time
Comes a time
Comes a time
Thanks to Neil Young, Comes A Time.
If you know anyone at the DNC, tell them a gift awaits them. To give them the basics, send them a light to this link, perhaps.
Also from Lorissa, pining like me in The Female Body Politic’s An American Promise.
We are more than pining, we are dance-lighting a way for the DNC. If no one sees the light, what does it mean? AOC stops dancing? I think not.
Carl, just discovered you via comments on another SubStack—I love that I am finding more and more voices saying “hell, no, not on my watch!”. May I add to your righteous piece & share a favorite poem of mine? Marge Piercy The Low Road (1980): https://www.historyisaweapon.com/defcon1/piercylowroad.html
And two to recommend for the music—they are my resistance anthems now: Jackson Browne Til I Go Down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bmzimxfqgfw and Bob Marley Get Up Stand Up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwIdvOTzvqc 🗽🇺🇸☮️
