STOP giving more emergency powers to the felon in the Continuing Resolution (CR). This CR includes an illegal provision that would PREVENT any member of Congress from attempting to terminate President Trump’s recent declaration of national emergencies.
The CR puts American citizens in dire jeopardy.
A rule in the CR gives Trump unilateral authority to impose taxes on Americans. This CR also stops Congress’s ability to intervene in the theft of the slush funds. A backgrounder in the CR is here at the button.
The National Emergency Act gives Congress the only authority to override the President’s declaration of an emergency, but that Congressional authority goes away if the CR is passed by the Senate.
Three crooks in cahoots. One lies and the other two swear to it. I have never seen such blatant dishonesty in Government. We have to end this travesty.
Remember, House Republicans want Authoritarianism in order to keep power. They fear the Midterms. They are extremely desperate as they are aware their days are numbered. It is now or never for them. You are expendable! They will screw all Americans in order to keep POWER.
First, there was no National Emergency. The border is better than it was. What changed? NOTHING. The President’s emergency declaration over immigration and the U.S. border was contrived. Trump had Speaker Johnson kill the negotiated bipartisan Border Bill. Trump has used these ill-gotten powers to impose large tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China. (I do not think that China tariffs are legal.) A Republican Congress has let the declaration slide as it suits their purpose, legal or not.
Fraud by the House. You were told by Speaker Johnson that the CR was a clean bill. A clean CR is 3 pages that say “steady as she goes”. This CR is a laughable 99 pages. It is not really laughable, it is fraud by House Republicans. They hope to hand Congressional authorities to the Executive through sleight of hand trickery. I have had enough of this clear fraud on the American people.

Only Congress can impose tariffs, except in the case of a National Emergency. In a National Emergency declared by the President, the President can impose tariffs and create a slush fund. That slush fund gives the felon President the purse strings.
The CR also includes provisions that would give the Trump Administration significantly more leeway to spend federal dollars without Congressional approval. Many of President Trump’s tariffs, including the across-the-board tariffs on Canada and Mexico, have been imposed under the guise of “national emergencies” under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). Exercise of those authorities requires the declaration of a national emergency under the National Emergencies Act, which also creates an expedited process Title 50 USC 1622 allowing Congress to terminate such declaration of emergency.
The Republican rule providing for floor consideration of the government funding bill (the “CR”) contains a provision that would REMOVE the expedited consideration of a recently introduced House resolution to terminate Trump’s 1 February national emergency declaration that provided the legal basis for these tariffs. There was no national emergency imo.
The Purse. Hand the purse to a felon? Representative Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA) agreed with Representative Rosa Luisa DeLauro (D-CT) that the CR is “filled with cuts and policy changes while abandoning Congress’ responsibility to decide how and why to spend taxpayer dollars.”
DeLauro, shown here, told Scanlon that the CR encourages the Trump administration to “keep impounding,” a phrase she said simply means “stealing the money — taxpayer dollars from our constituents. Taxpayer dollars that have already been appropriated and signed into law by the president of the United States.” I just love her. She reads the bills.
Scanlon in her exchange with DeLauro accused Republicans of excluding Democrats from budget negotiations. Republicans had unexpectedly walked out of the negotiations at the 11th hour. I suspect it was a diversionary set up. The CR was finalized and brought to the floor so fast the paper started smoking.
Ranking Member Jim McGovern (D-MA) took aim at the Trump Administration, particularly the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the Office of Management and Budget, for “unilaterally freezing all federal spending” in February. To McGovern and Democrats broadly, “Republicans have been trying to shut the government down since Trump took over. That’s when Trump gave Elon Musk and DOGE “unprecedented power to sabotage the federal government, letting them hack into agencies and dismiss thousands of critical federal workers.”
McGovern responded on behalf of Democrats that a clean CR would not need to be 99 pages. “A CR is pretty simple,” he said. “The government gets funded at the same levels. Calling this CR clean is laughable.” No, that was fraud by Speaker Johnson.
Later, Representative Ralph Norman (R-NC) said, the CR would “increase defense discretionary spending by $6 billion. It cuts nondefense discretionary spending by $13 billion.” In regards to the new clawbacks to IRS funding, the CR “does away” with the “87,000 IRS agents that are going to harass the taxpayers.” A whack job hidden in the CR.
“Does away with”…isn’t that a nice way of putting it. Billionaires hate IRS agents knocking on their door. Me, I don’t make enough to expect an IRS visit. ((I have been needing to talk to my readers and subscribers about this. I am narrowly focused. I forget about my own kitchen table. Paid subscribers are needed to keep me researching the fraudulent activities that these crooked Republicans are doing.)
Tariffs are Taxes on American Citizens. U.S. Representatives Don Beyer (D-VA) and Suzan DelBene (D-WA), who serve on the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade, yesterday issued a joint statement on a House vote on a provision hidden in a Republican CR rule that would effectively surrender congressional power over raising taxes and tariffs on the American people to Trump.
Trump is a known grifter. Do not give a convicted felon the purse strings that belong to the Legislative Branch. The House Republicans are trying to give that to Trump on the sly in this CR.
The vote comes on a day when Trump announced huge new tariffs on one of America’s closest allies, amid widening economic damage from his chaotic trade policy. Beyer and DelBene said:
“Every House Republican who votes for this measure is voting to give Trump expanded powers to raise taxes on American households through tariffs with full knowledge of how he is using those powers, and every Republican will own the economic consequences of that vote. It speaks volumes that Republicans are sneaking this provision into a procedural measure hidden from the American people. Today Trump is further endangering the U.S. economy and hiking prices on the American people by increasing his destructive and pointless tariffs on Canada. There can be no doubt about how he will use the power Republicans are about to give him, and about the disastrous economic effects we have already seen from Trump’s tariffs. While he babbles about making Canada the 51st state, your groceries and housing are getting more expensive and your retirement accounts are getting crushed- and House Republicans are supporting him every step of the way. The Constitution delegates authority setting tariffs, which are taxes, to Congress, and Congress retains the power to stop Trump from wrecking our economy. Yet House Republicans are choosing to surrender the power of their own votes to a reckless president, putting politics over the country and their constituents. We will continue urging our colleagues to come to their senses and save our economy from Trump’s tariff chaos.”
DelBene and Beyer previously introduced the Prevent Tariff Abuse Act and the Congressional Trade Authority Act to rein in Trump’s abuses of tariff powers under IEEPA and Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, respectively.
STOP the STEAL. March 14 DC meeting on the streets, people. They named Friday, March 14 as the first DC March. Yay! It is my birthday!
The Road Ahead. Trump already asked our military to shoot our citizens on the streets, “Can we shoot them in the legs?”), but the military refused. Now he plans to arrest protestors, 5 million? Not likely more than 500.
You know how far with this that Trump will go. The next fork in the road, no one knows what will unfold. I can see impeachment and a conviction in the Senate happening quickly.
Grab a flashlight, we are at a dark fork on this American road.
Great article!
I guess we're just not done trying to insert yet more fraud into the current day's politics. Can't we give Lady Liberty a break?
And happy birthday! I heard many people will be gathering for it. And it's also pi day or pie day. Enjoy!
Be well!
