A reader, Michael Fox, said it best: “I believe that you go right for the jugular."

Five recent polls show that a large majority of Americans are against Trump’s evil budget bill. Even 59% of respondents in a Fox poll said they oppose this trash legislation. These poll numbers pass abysmal for Trump. But that’s not enough to push Republicans to vote against it—which is where we must come in with our voices.
We must call our senators right now as the vote-a-rama is in progress. We must call. Right now.
I protest their bogus baseline. NBC’s Sahil Kapur:
“Senate Dems are making inquiries about ‘current policy baseline’- new budgeting method Republicans are using to treat $3.8 trillion of Trump tax cut extensions as costing $0.”
Costing us nothing? I get $460 billion per year deficit from that tax cut.
Dems say it’s invalid in reconciliation. Republicans cannot meet their -$1.5T Senate Finance Committee deficit instruction if they count the full 10-year cost of extending Trump’s tax cuts. So if they can’t use alternate baseline, it’d effectively torpedo the bill; that number is binding in reconciliation.
And, as a cascading effect of the Big Ugly Bill’s increase in deficits, another statute will force cuts to Medicare of approximately $500 billion.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO)) today said the tax cuts in the budget reconciliation bill the Republican senators are trying to pass will increase the national debt by $3.3 trillion over the next ten years despite the $1.2 trillion in cuts to Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other programs over the same period.
Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) called the measure:
“Robin Hood in reverse…stealing from the poor in order to give to the rich, this massive transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top…. This is socialism for the rich.”
Among other harms, this budget plan would leave 16 million Americans without health insurance and drive up the cost of care across the board; imperil hospitals and other health providers; reduce and eliminate food assistance for millions of children, veterans, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable Americans; terminate millions of jobs; spike energy costs; and explode the national debt.
According to immigration scholar Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, the One Big Beautiful Bill (BBB) provides an additional $45 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain migrants, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion.
Take note: $45 billion is 13.23X the current detention budget.
The BBB also adds $14.4 billion for transportation and removal on top of the current annual budget of $750 million.
Take note: $14.4 billion is 19.2X the current transportation and removal budget.
The BBB also adds $8 billion for new ICE hires and retention. Reichlin-Melnick notes that this budget will give ICE more money for detention than it gives the entire U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
This massive outlay to detain, house, and and move immigrants means fortification of the White House might be advised.
New security fencing, the no-scale variety, enhances White House fortification. Just installed under the guise of being for July 4th protest, I suspect the real worry for Donald Trump is mass protests over the coming immigrant roundup and removal. It is going to be brutal for the detainees and blood will be shed on our streets.
This from Katie Phang yesterday;
According to PBS’ latest reporting, among major funding to other Trump initiatives, the BBB “would provide some $350 billion for Trump’s border and national security agenda, including $46 billion for the U.S.-Mexico border wall and $45 billion for 100,000 migrant detention facility beds, as he aims to fulfill his promise of the largest mass deportation. The homeland security secretary would have a new $10 billion fund for grants for states that help with federal immigration enforcement and deportation actions. The attorney general would have $3.5 billion for a similar fund.”
Money would go for hiring 10,000 new Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, with $10,000 signing bonuses and a surge of Border Patrol officers, as well. The goal is to deport some 1 million people per year.
The homeland security secretary would have a new $10 billion slush fund for grants to states that help with federal immigration enforcement and deportation actions. The attorney general would have $3.5 billion for a similar slush fund, known as Bridging Immigration-related Deficits Experienced Nationwide, or BIDEN, referring to former Democratic President Joe Biden. I say we must Vote’m Out!
It irks me that the haters are so few in number, but so very well funded. We can forge our fate in 2026 only if we can build a foundation inspiring enough of our voters to weigh in.
Today we must call our senators. We must also take to the streets today en masse and on July 4th (Independence Day), and July 17th to honor Rep. John Lewis, a civil rights icon. We can surpass the June 14th numbers protesting. That was 11 million to 13.4 million. I hear both. Next month let us go out there 20 to 25 million strong!!! And yell, as Jackson Brown sang, til you go down.

Racist MAGA and cult followers don't care. Yet. They are riding high on a wave of WE WON ecstasy, but when things get uncomfortable with no healthcare, no food on shelves because it's rotting in the fields, they may change their minds. The ones i know all lack empathy, so Ithink it has to affect them personally before they will pay attention.
Trump, Miller and the Heritage Foundation are about to purge millions working people. Not criminals, but working people, as well as their children. They are about to round up working people and their families and placed them in detention centers. The cruelty and folly are beyond belief.
If I recall correctly, immigrant workers contribute something in excess of $50 Billion to the US economy each year. And last time I looked, those MAGA voters weren’t lining up for jobs mowing lawns, milking cows, in slaughterhouses, or roofing, to name a few.
All because of oft repeated lies from Trump.
