My start on the 2026/2028 Democratic Platform is here, but feeble. Feeble or not, we have to begin building our movement right now. Start now! People will join as we gather, integrate, and unleash our collective brainpower.
What I have done comes from one brain (and its 10 billion braincells). That is not enough, but my experience with brainstorming by mind mapping is supported by 30 years steeped in this process. Below, is my first cut at Level 1 of the platform.
I use Tony Buzan’s “Brainstorming by Mind Mapping” process. It was turned into software creatively by Chis Griffiths. Both are from the UK. I wrote of my success with their products. In response in 2013, they visited my large proposal center in Orlando.
Before you laugh Tony Buzan said to use color in mind mapping because the use of color stimulates creativity. The real question is can everything else fit under one of this platform’s Level 1 legs. (It must, or the legs’ wording must change to make the fit.)
The earlier we start, the more people that will see the brightness of the light that we shine. They will join, from all parties and faiths.
Why? Goodness is contagious. Universal healthcare+pharma and free college as ideas can build a stronger country and better workforce, period. That is not debatable, and for a family of 4 over their lifetime that is conservatively $500,000.
And it is now time for us to get on with it. We must start this movement. With a group of people, the Brianstorming by Mind Mapping process requires 3 phases, but I had 1 person, me. Phases 2 and 3 are done in subgroups, so I could not do those phases; hence, my attempt is far from definitive. My attempt is a strawman to collect darts and daggers. Throw them, please. Have at it!
Each Level 1 leg of the dream platform is itself a complex arena, and the least intuitive leg is Republic. There I intended to put sublegs Defense, SCOTUS, Seal Team Six, etc. As that suggests, each leg requires further brainstorming to build it out (and disarm my militant and caustic nature). I am most confident of the Rural leg. That is because I read Jess Piper’s Substack. Here is my take on Jess Piper’s Rural domain, below.
This is my Level 2 of the Rural platform. Everything else, the action items, has to go under one of these legs. If it does not, the legs need rewording.
I asked for Jess Piper’s input, but she has not yet tuned into LA (Lower Alabama). I hope she will soon.
One might note that I am set to a balance mandate in my method. There are no more than 6 items at Level 1 and there are no more than 6 items at Level 2. That gives a balance in the presentation that was missing in the discombobulated ’24 Democratic Platform.
Why the balance? You have to sell the whole shebang to a diverse group of critical evaluators. If on one leg you go too deep or too long, you lose a contingent or two, or three. DON’T DO THAT!
It is at Level 3 where you will begin to see the action items or efforts we will undertake, and it is here where my 10 billion braincells are so deficient. I know Jess will laugh at my cut below, but that means for the Rural leg she knows exactly what to add and where to put it. (No jokes on the latter, please.)
If Jess Piper adds to this effort, she will start our movement. I have a strong feeling the good she can do on this will lend the platform highly robust credibility. That robust credibility is needed to sell this platform across this nation. I know Jess can do it.
If other experts build out the remaining legs, it will extend our efforts to better this land. I regret I lack the wisdom to complete this by myself, but that wisdom is inherent in a group of experts. The software I use is at Ayoa.com. Training was one of the things I elected to take on as I was ending my career, so others could learn the techniques. That was my parting gift respecting those that taught me: Jim and Smokey, Tony and Chris, Steve and Arnie, et al.
The timeframes for each brainstorming phase are essential and shown in my tutorial. (As in required.) I am providing that handbook for your use. The blue button below will set it up for your download. Try the brainstorming process out to flesh out our platform. Gather a group that needs solutions. Happy to walk you through it.
In addition to fleshing out the policies of the platform, the Democratic Party needs a clear “listening” strategy (especially among the non-intellectual class) and a much stronger, more robust, and ongoing communication strategy (could encompass Timothy Snyder’s “shadow cabinet” idea.)
I have not heard from Jess Piper on this. Has she started a baking class?
