Where we are: Democratic Party favorability just hit a low of 29%.
Where I am: Seriously pissed!
The CR vote will drive favorability lower. I see both sides of the CR coin. I opted against the CR and was loud about it. At the end of the day, it was not my call. It was a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” choice. Schumer is closer to the nuances than I am. No matter which way the CR went, we still have work do to stop the bastards. On the streets that is. We need the million-person March in DC soonest. April 5 be there. Take no guns. A war has started, but the shooting has not yet started. The courts are on the bulwark, and we must take up the fight to support the court in the streets.
D.C District Chief Judge James E. (“Jeb”) Boasberg and Judge Beryl A. Howell are on point for the courts. They have stood strong.
Enough being nice. The Trump Administration now ignores the courts. A line is crossed. You have nothing else to lose, and your children and grandchildren’s freedoms are at stake. To the streets, people. Tomorrow, April 5. For those that do not feel it, we have entered Civil War II. It is time for demonstrations en masse, the million-person march on DC. God bless this Vet for his video:
Whatcha Voting For? Let me make the point that we have to have SOMETHING for which to vote after Civil War II. We have nothing you can touch. Saving democracy! Honoring and following the Constitution! Meh. YAWN. That all sounded good, but is vaporware-The Patriot Platform.
1) You don’t vote for the intangible “saving democracy”. You die in the streets to save democracy. That is saving democracy. Get on that! Democracy never comes up for a vote. Ever. Both sides claim they are patriots voting for democracy.
2) You don’t vote for the intangible “honoring and following the Constitution”. It is something that you honor and follow or don’t honor and follow. You observe others and how they do that. You form opinions of those people. You use your opinion to influence your vote and might prioritize something other than “honoring and following the Constitution”. Many did. That is the problem
The Patriot Platform is intangible vaporware. If you vote for that, you are voting against something—instead of voting for something. David R. Lurie of Public Notice offered up this advice today:
What has been missing for months in DC, however, is a unified Democratic strategy for publicly defining, and relentlessly opposing, the MAGA GOP’s battery of the nation and its most cherished institutions. And the absence of a strategy is all the more glaring given that the public’s tolerance for Trump’s course of illegal conduct is lessening by the day.
For what do we vote? People actually vote for the platform and the leader. They trust that leader can bring that platform to fruition. Dance around that a moment in your mind. It is more complex than it looks.
You vote for a platform-integrated person. Lost? Of course you are. How could you not be lost?
WE HAVE NO PLATFORM AND NO PERSON. THUS, WE HAVE NO PLATFORM-INTEGRATED PERSON.
We have SHIT. The first problem is we Dems really have had no platform for quite some time. Harris timidly tried. The party published a disorganized, unusable mishmash of platitudes.
Rickety Starter Platform. Quite frankly, I don’t need “the person” right now. We can build a platform on which we can stand together. We can build a starter platform. I don’t care how rickety.
I WOULD VOTE FOR THIS PLATFORM. This is my list:
Agricultural Price Support
Rural Land Bank
Rural Services & Hospital Support Plan
MEDICARE-Pharmacy For All (Single Payer)
No income tax below $75k Family
Supplemented Income up to $50K
Minimum Wage $18.00/Hr.
Outlaw Citizens United: Only people contribute.
Health-Centric Ecology and Environment Mandate
Health-Safety Food and Drug Mandate
National Free Childcare to age 6
Free School Lunch Program K-12
National Free College Education
FAIR Share (Income/Wealth/Windfall Tax) (To pay for it all.)
This list is SOMETHING. My point is that now we have NOTHING for which to vote. Rural is first as we need to turn that vote 180°. Give me a great platform. I know my list missed some biggies, but I am all alone here, though I will have Jess Piper on rural.
Give me a list to flesh out, Then, all I need is a great, charismatic leader to carry the refined platform. The platform will evolve and get better. I think that my list would be a slam dunk. (I also like my own cooking.) I tried to interest the DNC, but they did not call back. They are not there yet. I posted on this earlier:
The Road Ahead. Trump already asked our military to shoot our citizens on the streets, “Can we shoot them in the legs?”), but the military refused. Now he plans to arrest protestors. You know about how far with this that Trump will go, but no one knows what will unfold. Grab a flashlight, because we are at a dark fork on this American road.
Understanding will become a bridge. We all should have affinity with that need. Thank you for finding my voice. You have given that place and meaning by just being here. That is real, heart-felt sentiment because I am still emotionally that little boy Army brat from Dothan, Alabama that started first grade there in 1955, (but lived in Japan, Germany, and Iran, and all over the U.S.). Maybe too much free stuff.
Overturn of Citizens United.
Yay! I wish the DNC cared.
