Psychopathic as an adjective, ArcticStones, is not the plural. Neo-fascists are the plural. Anyone that joined that cult is included because of their membership card. Each of those with a card, as individuals, must answer the charge for themselves. Our answering for them seems defeatist, and not an appropriate way to do battle with them. β€œIt puts the lotion on its skin, or it gets the hose again.” Questions are: Does my calling any individual a psychopathic neo-fascist expose me to a claim of defamation? (I think not if offered as my opinion.) Does my calling the group of them psychopathic neo-fascists expose me to defamation. That is clearly a no. Your take?’

HELP TANK TRUMP’s Inauguration Ratings

Trump really values his TV ratings and crowd sizes. This is why he went apoplectic when even the National Park Service documented that Obama’s crowd was bigger.

Well, this year Trump’s crowd will be tiny. Due to a forecast of moderate Greenland-like weather, the inauguration is being moved inside the Capitol. (Rather than being a coward, Bernie would just have put on mittens and a hat.)

How are ratings determined? They count the number of TVs on and what they are tuned to.

Here is how to tank Trump’s TV ratings: Leave your TV on, just switch it to any channel that is NOT broadcasting his inauguration. National Geographic or even the Food Channel will do. Go for a walk, wash your hair, take a nap, do your daily commute and go to work if you have to, make love to your partner if you want – but just leave your TV on.

*) Unfortunately, I will not be able to heed my own advice. My wife and I got rid of our TV more than a decade ago. We may, however, stream a good movie or re-watch Nixon’s and Agnew’s resignation speeches, or perhaps re-watch the debate in which Kamala Harris demolished Trump.

If the Dems believe that tRump is a neo-fascist then why are Harris and Biden attending his inauguration? Either he is or he isn't as neo-fascist. There is no such thing as a half-pregnant neo-fascist. This sends a message that Dems are wishy-washy instead of being steadfast in their belief that tRump represents an existential crisis to the health of our democracy. This is so infuriating! On the bright side, Michelle Obama is not attending. So, that's something. If only more Dems could have a spine like she has.

Thoughtful, Mary. Differing in degrees, fascists and neo fascists are similar. Fascist dictatorships always begin with the winning vote of the people, pluralities and majorities of the people. Respect for the winner is a requisite for a politician. Michele is not a politician. Like me, she is not going.

It's too long and also too long on psychology to become commonly used

Things that are too long are often reduced to initialisms like PNF to shorten them. You write them out once, and use the initialism subsequently. I rather think the definition, if accurate, is the best thing to use.

I wish I thought it would catch on because the premise of this as I understood it was to get all the allies calling our opposition by the same 'universal' name. I think greedy motherfuckers would be more on point than psychopathic when, to me, we best educate the masses that this is actually a class war that will be the most destructive that what we possibly can't come back from.

Angie, pinpoint accuracy is required and it must be perjorative. You have the latter nailed but lots of Dems fit your definition, as do most of my siblings.

Yes, I think psychopathic is accurate. haha but I really don't know and if someone starts asking me, I suppose I could have crib notes: psychopathy vs sociopathy....

Hi, Carl, you are quite right. The term is deadly if terrifyingly accurate. Thank you for this.

Psychopaths? I beg to differ. Some are merely highly-functioning sociopaths.

Great input ArcticStones, and it needs bettter definition of my research. From my research: Sociopathy and psychopathy are both mental health conditions that involve challenging behaviors, but they have distinct differences and some overlaps.

These conditions need professional diagnosis and that is neither Carl nor ArcticStones, I am sad to say.

To help me, I ask myself is this indicative of an elected person, such as a Congressperson. That helps me see how elected Republicans can act that way. These are the enemy that we must vote out.

Sociopathy is impulsive, volatile, consistently irresponsible, fails to meet obligations, and may be weakly empathetic. This is not a Congressperson.

Psychopathy is calculating, coldly calculating and may have little or no conscience and lack empathy or morality.

Psychopaths may be more calculating and blend into society more effectively than sociopaths. That is a Congressperson.

Both sociopaths and psychopaths may:

Lie repeatedly

Fail to learn from mistakes or punishment

Be irresponsible

Be aggressive

Be unable to make long-term plans

Be arrogant

Brain abnormalities and genetics may play a role in psychopathy.

I was using sociopath, but I changed it to psychopath because the felon47 has caused harm and even death. THAT is why I graduated him to a psychopath. He's cruel and hateful with no remorse for his actions on the well being of others.

While I agree that Felon47 has demonstrated that he is a psychopath, Carl’s post uses a broader brush, writing "psychopaths" in the plural to refer to lots of other people. I believe that is overly broad.

Lacking empathy. Not caring the damage they do. They are all guilty as charged. Bailiff, take them away.

I understand. Seeing how so many GOP officials are following his lead, I personally don't think being plural is too broad. But that's not the real point anyway. We must stay in the fight even when it feels hopeless. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and here's to boycotting the inauguration. hahahha

I have a problem only with one single descriptive word for the wiki definition of neo-fascist- being against capitalism. Capitalism, I would submit, dovetails nicely into fascism, robbing workers of money and power. I don’t mean to nitpick. I just think there’s a small mistake. We don’t want those.

Yes, I agree. We are not true capitalism. We tax and provide public services and infrastructure. I mention our capitalism over taken by the oligarchs in my post, https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/fight-psychopathic-neo-fascists?r=3m1bs
