You article is very informative and gives me hope. It does not appear that Musk is too upset about his brands imploding. Must be all of the money he is making with insider trading. When is the SEC going to bring charges against Trump’s billionaire buddies and him for this?

On another note, Happy Birthday!

Thank you Virginia. Just during the single terrible “crash” year of 2020 (the Institute for Policy Studies documents), the world’s 2,365 billionaires saw their wealth increase by a full 54%. America’s billionaires saw their net worth surge 62% by $1.8 trillion. Average billionaire wealth worldwide increased 27% in just that one year alone. Billionaires see crashes as time to feast at bargain prices. They are unfazed by market crashes.

They are like buzzards, eating the carrion left after a crash. Not all billionaires are despicable people. There are those who do a lot of good for their fellow humans, animals, and our country. However, the greedy outnumber the good I am afraid.

Much appreciated insights into the precipitous fall of Tesla and the felonious conduct of “DOGE”. I’m just wondering whether the moral bankruptcy of the Unites States will occur before that of Tesla.

I cannot paint with such a broad brush realizing that so many voted for Harris and just as many did not vote at all. I only count the authoritarians as 30%. Could be less than 30% as they are switching sides since they have seen the loonies in action.

Sir...

I work private industry.

"Rightsizing" is a regular occurrence as organizations become bloated and wasteful.

Quite often these actions are necessary in response to financial pressures (reduced sales, etc).

Would annual unsustainable deficits not be a trigger to reduce costs?

I can understand my definition of waste may differ from yours, but math is math and unless spending is curtailed, it's game over.

It's not a jobs program. Employment at the federal level does not exempt one from the realities of finance.

By identifying "non-essential" spending, we can prioritize our own. . Yeah, malaria in some third world local may increase, but are you not tired of stepping over homeless veterans at the train station?

Priorities and control of costs.

You live in a small echo chamber where this NGO funded Marxism conveniently exists to assuage your misguided principles.

DOGE is exposing waste, fraud and abuse. Why do you have a problem with this? Is it the messenger that's problematic (TDS)? I'm truly asking. You have no issue with wasteful spending?

Please.

Explain. Defend wasteful spending.

You believe “waste” is 80,000 Federal employees that are public stewards? I note you have not taken on fraud and abuse. Who defines waste? Obviously, Musk does not. Who creates and funds the Department of Education? Obviously, Musk does not. Nor do you.

There is no wasteful spending here. You may not like it, but every penny being spent was approved by Congress. The courts are with me and my position on this. And I can say all this without calling you a name.

Why don’t you defend a rogue, mentally off billionaire unilaterally usurping the power of the Legislative Branch? The courts need to hear your feeble attempt, as DOJ lawyers have not been able to present any valid argument in the 30 cases that have been decided so far.

I'm all for anyone, on all sides of the political spectrum, expressing and advocating for their views, whatever they may be (so long as those views aren't illegal, don't include hate speech, etc.). But allow me to argue for moderation on a specific point: one should be careful not to attack unintended targets by mistake.

Criticize Elon Musk all you want. Advocate for people not buying Teslas if you wish. But please don't even joke about egging/vandalizing Tesla vehicles in circulation. Remember that not all car buyers are politically active or interested. Some people may have chosen in the past, or may choose TODAY, to buy a Tesla simply because they like the car and it fits their needs well.

There is zero justification to attack the owner of a Tesla because of Elon Musk. They have the right not to care about politics or to have made their choice for different reasons. That car owner is not Elon Musk, nor IN ANY WAY responsible for Musk's conduct.

Such action would not only weaken your cause and moral standing. It's also illegal (assault or property damage) to harm another person or their property. Depending on the specifics, that owner would be entirely justified in seeking damages, suing, or pressing charges: and might do so even if they agreed with you.

Your points are well taken and responsible. I have trouble limiting my anger when children’s medicine and food are deprived worldwide by Elon Musk. Anyone using their discretionary authority to support this jerkbait greatly offends me. I will see Elon Musk in hell. While I applaud people buying green, those people that continue to drive around advertising Musk’s products need to suffer the consequences of what they are doing. If you drive a Tesla, you are flaunting the Tesla badge and brand, vomiting it in my face. Advertising for Tesla and promoting a cruel billionaire is what these people are doing. They can trade to better EV products. Their choice. And I hope their Tesla’s used car value declines to $20.

You have the right to be angry. But again, consider that many owners are NOT "using their discretionary authority to support" Musk... they simply bought a car. And even if they DID buy the car for political reasons, is that not protected free speech too? Would you support THEM attacking YOU or vandalizing your property if they found your views repugnant?

Choose not to do business with a Tesla owner if you wish. Have a conversation with them. Try to convince them of the merits of your argument. But if your view is that you are protecting democracy, then all parts of that democracy need to be honored. The goal is not to attack your fellow citizens but to influence their views.

They are advertising for Musk. Not okay here. They can sell and change brands. If they are still advertising, I can still bitch. I don’t care to discuss this further with you or them. Your points are well taken, but I am an asshole. I have always been an asshole. I will always be an asshole. Musk is an asshole.
